Agt Maande

Good Monday everybody, how are you doing?  This has been another great week in the Limpopo.  It's amazing, I feel like I was just here yesterday posting about the Zip Lining.  Things are going great!

We have been tracting a lot more, because we are changing our planning for the area.  Like I've said in the past, there are a lot of less active members and we have been seeing them lately.  Now we are running out of investigators, because we have either baptized them or they are no longer progressing.  Tracting is interesting here.  We really never know how the people are going to respond.  Some say, "Go away, I don't like you."  Others say, "come on in and teach me the word of God,  you just never know when God will be knocking on your door."  It is definitely a humbling area.  I get stressed at times, but find help through prayer and reading the scriptures.  I love my job so much and love every second of it.

Saturday was a crazy day.  We set up a booth out of the back of the Bokkie and gave out Pamphlets and talked with people.  This was an ANC Rally.  ANC is like the RNC or DNC Parties.  There were lots of people.  During the rally, a huge rush of people ran at the Bokkie and surrounded it.  They took all the pamphlets and Books of Mormon that we had.  We had 45 Books of Mormon, over 30 Pamphlets, and 100 Pass along cards.  It was super crazy.  Luckily, we made it out of there with out a scratch and hopefully they read the stuff they got.  It was funny there were about 30 people around the back of the Bokkie and this big lady came in and pushed everyone aside.  She got three books of Mormon and ran away.  The best part is, I got it on video.  I wish I could put it on here, but no worries you get the idea.  I'd say it was definitely a successful day in passing out material, wouldn't you?

Other then that, things are going great.  I am loving being a missionary and can't believe I have been out over eight months now.  I remember looking forward to this day thinking, wow when that happens, I will be so far.  As the day approached it was no big deal.  Now I am looking forward to the one year mark.

Have a great week everybody.

Zip Lining!

Good Monday everybody.  It has been another fantastic week up here in the North-east.  We are doing lots of hard work and staying busy.  We have started to tract more to have more people to teach.  Most of our strong investigators have been Baptized or are on date in June.

The weather remains hot and humid, luckily for me it is winter time here in South Africa and I just happen to be in the hottest area.  I will be in Joburg next month and have a feeling it is going to be pretty cold.  It is weird to think the elevation of Joburg is over 5,000 feet.

As you know yesterday was Mother's day, which is one of the two days in the year that I can skype home.  It was so great to talk to my family!  I love them and miss them a lot but I know these two years of service to my Heavenly Father will be the "Best Two Years" of my life.

For p-day this week several of the elders and I went zip-lining.  Here are the photos.

Boabob Tree

Well, it has been another great two weeks here in the Limpopo. We had transfers last week and Elder Ryan and I will be staying together in Modjadji for one more transfer. The sad part is that Motupa is growing very fast and they now have their own missionaries, so we will no longer work there. I'm sad, but I know it will be good for them.

We went to the Boabob tree today, which I think I already talked about, but not sure. It is a 6,000 year old tree that is gigantic and now has a bar inside of it. It's too bad they couldn't have found a better use.

Other than that, things are really great up here. I am enjoying the weather and getting use to the heat. I am going to be so cold when I return to Montana. Especially when I go back to BYUI and it is -20 out. Oh man that will be crazy!

Well I love you all and hope you have a great week.

PS Sorry about the white, I cut and pasted the text from another area.

Take A Chance

Hey everybody, I can't believe it's been two weeks since my last post.  We had a baptism this past Sunday, which went super well.  His name is Felix Kwaku Agortimevor.  Have fun trying to pronounce that one.  He is an awesome guy from Ghana, who is here trying to find work.  He has a great family back in Ghana that will soon come join him in the waters of baptism.  Here is his awesome conversion story.

One night not long ago, he had a dream where he was praying about the Book of Mormon and an angel appeared to him in his dream, and said look to my right.  He did and saw two white women crying and bearing their testimony about the Book of Mormon.  The next day he went to church for the first time and it was Fast Sunday.  The two white women that were in his dream got up and bore their testimony about the truthfulness of the book of Mormon and this Church.  Ever since then he has come to church and strengthened his faith in Christ.  I am so happy to have met Felix and helped him take the first step in to the waters of Baptism.

In other news, this week has, well actually these last two weeks, have really flown by.  No other work is greater than God's work and I have seen this everyday in my work.  I don't have much else to say except this Gospel is true.  The sooner you take the first step and take a leap of faith the better.  I leave you now with my testimony.  My name is Keaton Segil.  Seven months ago last week, I was set apart as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  I have labored hard and diligently for these past seven months and have seen miracles come to pass.  We have a Father in Heaven that loves us and is waiting to help us, but first we must ask.  Don't take my word for it.  Take a chance and pray.  Not only do I promise, but God promises that if you pray with a sincere heart and with real intent He will manifest the truth of it unto you.  I know and have seen this every single day for the past seven months.  Take a chance, I promise you, you won't regret it.

These things I testify in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Crocodiles!

Hey everybody.  Another great week here in the North-east.  I hope you enjoyed the pictures from last week and aren't too jealous.  I will try my best to bring a baby Lion home!

This week we had an Easter Braai in Matupa, so we spent a lot of time getting ready for that.  It went very well and we had lots of fun.  The senior couples are tired of chicken and pap, so we had hot dogs, beans and macaroni salad.  The Africans did not like it too much, but they ate it, of course, and took some home.  If it is edible, they will eat it.  Well I guess they will eat it even if it isn't edible, but that is besides the point.  We also had games for the kids to play.  We made a huge dart board and tied balloons to it and they threw darts at it.  It was a lot of fun.  I ran the dart board game and had a lot of fun.  There were other games like croquet going on, but everybody wanted to play darts.  They have never seen games like this before.  It was a very joyful experience and we get to do it again this week in Modjadji.

In other news we have three people on date to be baptised this month.  They are Rollys, Felix and Winny.  Rollys is from Modjadji and the other two are from the village in Matupa.  They are progressing very well and coming to church every week.  They will be baptised on Easter, so that will be pretty sweet.

I went to a crocodile ranch today, which was a lot of fun.  The're lots of cool things to do here on P-day.  I have been pretty lucky.  I got to hold a baby crocodile.  He was so cute, he tried to give me a kiss!

Good Afternoon!

Wow, what a crazy couple of weeks.  We had another Baptism yesterday, which went very well.  Her name is Mampe Sekhula and we have been teaching her for sometime now.  Nice to finally see her take the first step.

So we went to Lion Park a couple of weeks ago and I am now able to upload the pictures.  We got to play with a Leopard and baby Lion cubs.  It was a lot of fun.

He purrs like a cat.  Except scarier.

SIMBA!

Hey there!

He won't let go!

We got pretty close.

They were too tired to eat us!

The work here is going very well.  Lots of work to be done, so we are staying busy.  The Modjadji branch is progressing well and I love the people.  Well most of them anyways.  Some of the people here don't like us too much and think we worship Satan and call us Satanists.  These are the non members of the church of course.  When we drive by the kids they yell fire at the truck and run away.  Pretty funny stuff.  The village of Matupa is doing well too.  We have a congregation of about 40 to 50 every week.  They are not a branch yet, but they soon will be.  We just have to do our part and God will take care of the rest.

I got a package from home this week, which was awesome.  I want to say thank you to Dalonda for the awesome treats.  They are so good and the kids love them.  Thank you so much for thinking of me and I hope all is well with you and your family.  I am trying my best to share the treats, but they are all so good.  I also got some Starbursts and Lemonheads,  I miss American candy so much!  Thank you mom, dad, and grandparents for the rest.  I love you all so much!!

Well that pretty much sums up the past two weeks.  I will try my best to write every week.

Ses Maande!!!

Another great week in the Northeast.  We went down to Joburg on Monday for transfers.  Elder Rakotomalala left and I got a new companion.  His name is Elder Ryan from South Carolina.  Things have been going super great, just so hard to find a good internet connection up here.  Oh well, it is totally worth it.
We had two baptisms in the villiage of Matupa, which went very well.  Lots more coming in the near future. This branch in growing very fast. Here are some pictures from last week.
